IGNITING THE NEXT GENERATION


The Whitaker Grp and New Balance continue their shared journey with “Willful Bias,” a story driven by collective action where creating space for creatives breaks through barriers and transforms purpose into power. 


To commemorate the release of the limited The Whitaker Grp x New Balance 1906U “Willful Bias,” the Co-Op Workshop series at beSocial Charlotte focused on spotlighting the various creatives featured in the campaign and their craft, while providing educational insights.


THE SUSTAINABLE STUDIO: UNCONVENTIONAL UPCYCLING



Hosted by apparel designer, Donte Gleaton, this session explored a hands-on approach to the principles of upcycling, focusing on using unconventional materials to promote sustainability and innovation.


A UX JOURNEY: FROM CLOUD COMPUTING TO DESIGN



Erin Thames, UX Designer and DJ, engaged participants in exploring the intersection of cloud computing and crowd design through the lens of UX. Learning from real life examples, participants gained insights on  how these principles influence various creative pursuits and community initiatives.


BEHIND THE MASK



Hosted by Kiana Mui, this session tapped into the concept of the masks we wear in our daily lives through a sculpting activity. Exploring the topic of how these masks impact our personal experiences, participants learned how self-expression can flow through art.


THE BEAUTY OF AI



The Beauty of AI was designed to introduce participants to the world of AI image generation, hosted by AI designer, James Bowen. Participants were introduced to various AI platforms and techniques for crafting effective prompts, ending with hands-on experience with AI tools.


CO-OP PITCH COMPETITION



Dominic Jones is a freshman at Johnson C. Smith University majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Criminology. At just 17 years old, Dominic has launched a startup company called Reid (Real Estate Internship Development,) which offers a course designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the real estate industry. The course features real estate investors who share their insights with aspiring professionals

 

Determined to pursue a career in real estate, Dominic came prepared to share his pitch at the Co-Op Pitch Competition. With his driven spirit as a young entrepreneur, he captivated the panel of judges with a clear vision for his startup. Demonstrating his dedication to becoming a valuable resource for his community, his passion earned him a $500 award towards his developing his initiative.
