When it comes to Air Max 97′s (or any AM for that matter) canvas isn’t exactly the first thing that comes to mind – unless, of course, it’s one of those Japanese designed imports, but that’s another conversation. But that last statement makes a point of the fact that after 15 years on the market, the AM 97 just isn’t an optimal running shoe anymore; and once a purpose-specific shoe retires, it graduates to the lifestyle class. Given canvas’ tendency to ‘earthen’ up whatever color it’s applied to, the sheer luminosity of this red defies the laws of logic. Set atop a white sole, it pops even harder. While tonal, contrasted colorways like this define the lifestyle genre, the hypercolor hue ensures that the shoe stays true to the AM signature form, regardless of which side the canvas may favor.
