After the literal Hell that Japan has been through in the past year, seeing BBC get back on it’s feet has certainly been a major positive. But while the huge crop of tees and sweatshirts we’ve recently gotten in are a sign of considerable progress, nothing marks an arrival (or comeback) quite like quality outerwear. A far cry from the gaudy, applique-loaded jackets of seasons past, this varsity sticks close to the script of the classic, refined letterman, featuring a single chest patch with brand name proudly emblazoned. Even more classy are the colorway templates; no jelly bean cues here, just a simple cardinal red and black. Whether or not the simplified look is indicative of a new direction for the brand has yet to be gleaned, but truth be told, it definitely brings a much needed air of grounded sophistication back to a label that some believe may have lost itself among the stars.
