After nearly every ‘most wanted’ release was confirmed greenlit, Jordan heads nationwide preemptively dubbed 2012 the Year of the IV. But with so many other #’s being put in heavy rotation, naysayers contend the title’s up for grabs. So in an attempt to lock down its claim to the crown (and as possible consolation to those still sore from a Doernbecher snub), JB’s rolling out this high contrast edition to satiate the palates of the Retro hungry.
Now I don’t know about you, but even with the popular consensus hailing these as the ‘Cavs’, I still contest – as part of a likely single member minority – that these are much more Knicks inspired than anything else. Sure LeBron may be lauded as heir to the throne, but he doesn’t play in CLE anymore, and they haven’t rocked the black/blue/orange since King James was a high school sophomore. Compare that with the fact that MJ’s team captain, sidekick, and chief historic rivals all swear allegiance to the NYC. Hell even Mike himself is a native Brooklynite. Taxonomic beef aside, the continuous influx of Retro 4′s is a good thing for the community as a whole. And with youth sizes in stock as well, heads on both sides of the age and gender line can join in the dabte over rightful inspiration.
