For the past couple weekends, all’s been quiet on the Retro front. But those few cycles void of anything major has allowed the anticipation surrounding this drop to swell and fester. Luckily for fiends, next weekend’s release of the “Playoffs” kicks off a cascade of upcoming 12′s on which you all can splurge to help yourselves come down a bit from all those pent-up, pre-drop jitters. All other heat notwithstanding, the Playoffs reign supreme over the other April drops almost soley because of the historical significance.

En route to the first ring of the Bulls’ second 3-peat, the AJ 12 had more going for it than just pedigree, they were also arguably the single best shoe performance-wise that year. The sleek, lightweight silhouette lent itself effortlessly to a near flawless blend of support, comfort and response; putting on full display Tinker’s mastery in the art of execution. Even with its patent leather clad precursor still fresh on consumers minds, this was undeniably Hatfield’s Magnum Opus. The fact that this shoe is one of the rare Jordans to remain in virtually unaltered form is further testament to its perfection, and- for all the new jacks – is the REAL reason this sneak is so beloved.

So make sure you get here early as hell next Saturday if you’re seriously down to cop. And if it wasn’t already clear from the pic, we do have the full spectrum covered. So cop your shorty a set too.

More pics after the jump…
